Marc Jacobs Fall 2014 Ads–While last season, Marc Jacobs tapped pop star Miley Cyrus for his advertisements, fall 2014 seems to be all about going back to basics—quite literally. Models Julia Nobis and Waleska Gorczevski pose against a barren, almost clinical studio backdrop in the preview image released on Jacobs' site. Korean model and superfan Hong Yuh Reum underwent plastic surgery in order to resemble her idol, Miranda Kerr. According to Jezebel, even before the extreme transformation Reum was always told that she looks like an “adorable non-Korean child.” Reum was featured on Japanese TV show Alien Virus (see the video on Daily Mail). which documented the dangers of plastic surgery where she was interviewed and said, “It really struck me when I first saw [Kerr] in a magazine. She has a baby face but she’s very sexy. I knew I wanted to be like her!” View More

No Makeup, No Problem–On Instagram, the no makeup selfie has become big trend. It’s pretty self explanatory–the subject poses with little or no makeup, and then uploads the photograph. We couldn’t help but notice that some of our favorite models went bare-faced on the social media site. The Victoria's Secret model hits the beach in colorful and carefree styles that are ready for summer. Patrick Demarchelier lensed Candice for the sun-drenched shoot with styling by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele while makeup artist Serge Hodonou (Frank Reps) gave Candice her bronzed glow. Photo from Instagram Tom Ford Talks Customer Reviews-Style.com’s Tim Blanks sat down with influential designer Tom Ford and talked CFDA awards, Rihanna and how customers no longer care about reviews. Ford opened up about the change of focus in fashion and how he tried not to be reviewed in the start of his career. “This is why I tried not to be reviewed in the beginning. I wanted to focus on the customer, not the reviews,” says Ford, who revealed his secret marriage earlier this year. When Blanks assures Ford that customers do in fact read reviews, he simply replies, ” It doesn’t mean I don’t care about reviews, but today a lot of people who are reviewing are bloggers. There’s no longer the hierarchy of an editor in chief on top who hires people with a knowledge and a history and an ability to write and disseminate that information to the rest of the population. Everyone has a voice now, so the person with the loudest voice is the one people listen to.”
